This song, భారతదేశం భాగ్య సీమరా, which transliterates as Bharata desham bhagya seema ra ('India is a blessed country') was written and performed by Gaddar and Sanjeev with Jana Natya Mandali. As for the date of composition, the title of one YouTube video names it as 1972, and this is possible. One comment on this video makes the claim that it was recorded in the 90s but provides no evidence - and this is contradicted by multiple people who recall listening to it in the 80s...the most interesting thing any of the comments says is: 'కొండపల్లి సీతారామయ్య రాసిన వ్యవసాయక విప్లవం అనే పుస్తకం చదివిన తర్వాత గద్దర్ గారు సంజీవ్ జననాట్యమండలి కళాకారులు ఈ పాటను పూర్తి చేశరు' - apparently it was inspired by Kondapalli Seetharamaiah (People's War Group general secretary)'s book Agricultural Revolution, any information on which I have not been able to find. A publication date would certainly clear up any questions one might have about placing it. My doubts surrounding the assignment of 1972 are that at this point, the JNM could not have been extant for more a year, i.e., this recording - which is not half-bad, considering it is over fifty years old - was produced very early on. According to this same comment, the (probably) 1972 recording involves two main artists, Gaddar and Sanjeev - and while we could put this down to Gaddar's immense reputation it is interesting to note that of all the videos of this recording I have found online, none mention Sanjeev's involvement despite the appearance of distinct voices. Here, the voices of women are most prominent in the moments of chorus, as is typical, but in a 2016 rerecording for Dandakaranyam, the sexes seem more audibly balanced - this could be down to shifts in participation or simply a better microphone setup. But what is not wholly standard is that the chorus imitates the last two bars of the soloist's first phrase, rather than its whole. In భారతదేశం భాగ్య సీమరా, the singer gives eight bars, the final two of which are imitated. Then, he gives another four, and the chorus again repeat the last two. After another four from the soloist, they deceptively imitate the final two, as if to continue with the pre-established structure, but after this turn to the beginning of the phrase and sing all four - making six. The final two are made up by an assertive wordless flourish which Gaddar more or less butchered at a launch event for Dandakaranyam's soundtrack album. భారతదేశం భాగ్య సీమరా may be described as a classic, in that there is much talk about it, as well as that about its composer.
